As already known, it is not the primary injury leads to the increased mortality for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) but the Algorithm for Prehospital Assesment and Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury rather evolves over the ensuing minutes, hours and days. The following journal is a guideline for the management of severe head injury in association with managing prehospital patients with severe head injuries.

The journal guideline consists of fourteen chapters of evidence-based recommendation for the patient with head injury (both prehospital and hospitalized patient issues), but it outlined on the prehospital management of severe TBI in adult and pediatric with Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) of 3 to 8.

The material of contents of this guideline are Methodology (guideline development rationale and process), Assesment (oxygenation and blood pressure, GCS, pupils), Treatment (Airway, Ventilation, Oxygenation and Fluid Resuscitation), Brain Targeted Therapy, Hospital Transport Decision, and description of the Algorithm for Prehospital Assesment and Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury (click picture to enlarge).
